The church's history

The church was built in 1785 on the foundations of an earlier church that was built in 1325. There was almost certainly an even earlier church, possibly of timber construction, dating from Viking times.

The church contains an interesting collection of memorials, Norman and medieval carved stones and other artefacts related to Skelton.

Old All Saints' Church is at the end of a short wooded lane on the north side of the A173, as you leave Skelton towards Guisborough.

There are limited parking spaces in the lane. When parking, please take care not to obstruct the castle entrance or access to neighbouring properties.

Access to the churchyard is via a short flight of stone steps; from the churchyard there is level access into the church.
